ABOUT

THE

FILMMAKERS

(Pictured left to right: McKinney, Koghan, Herring) Photo Grace Lee

Jeff Herring: a creative artist, conceived of the idea for the film with Dan McKinney over a large plate of sushi. Both had no idea how much work was ahead. Herring co-directed EYE LEVEL and many who attended the conference in 98' will recall him as the man who danced in shorts and a T-shirt at the banquet dinner.

Herring currently runs a kids' entertainment booking service. Most recently, he left in early Feb. for an extended trip through the rain forests of Thailand -- his newly adopted second homeland. He should be back by April.

Armando Koghan: an associate brought on board the project soon after its conception. Kogan was responsible for sound and also directed during the shoot. He did not dance at the 98' conference, but can -- and much better than any of the other filmmakers.

Kogan is currently a technical guru and web designer. He works at the Center for Electronic Art in San Francisco and recently produced a short film addressing the "digital divide". The filmmaker went into the streets of San Francisco and asked the homeless for their opinion of the World Wide Web. The piece, entitled "Streey Bytes," will be available soon.

Dan McKinney: a documentary producer, has more or less devoted the last year of his life to editing EYE LEVEL. As he writes this sentence, he is certain that the film is perfect; but, tomorrow he may not be as certain -- So buy a copy now! Conference 98' attendee's may remember McKinney as the one schlepping all the heavy lights and tripods. He would like to be remembered this way.

Currently McKinney is doing free-lance video production with Armando Koghan for the web. If you are considering web video, McKinney may be your man.

The filmmaker will begin work on a Masters Degree in Journalism and Documentary Film at UC Berkeley next fall.

THANKS

We would like to offer special thanks to all those who participated in the movie. We arrived at the 1998 National Conference with few contacts and many worries. The people that we were fortunate enough to meet there and get to know were friendly, open and extremely articulate. It is their unique viewpoints and personalities that makes the film shine. Thankyou...Thankyou....Thankyou!

FOR FILM BUFFS

This film was shot entirely on a Canon XL-1 and edited on a PowerMac Blue & White G3 with Edit DV
